Doula Scholarship Program Overview
The Alameda Alliance for Health (Alliance) Doula scholarship program was established to grow the Alliance Doula provider network to increase access to services for Alliance members. This scholarship is intended to offset costs related to Medi-Cal Provider Application and Validation for Enrollment (PAVE), contracting and credentialing with the Alliance, continued education, training, and administrative and operational support required to be a doula.
Scholarships of up to $1,000 per person are available for doulas both intending to contract with the Alliance and doulas already contracted with the Alliance; a doula may only be granted one (1) scholarship of up to $1,000 and will not be eligible for both. Doulas who identify as American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian or Pacific Islander, Black/African American, Chinese, Filipino, Hispanic/Latine, and Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications for scholarships will be accepted starting Monday, December 16th, 2024, and applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until funds are depleted.

Provider Recruitment Initiative (PRI) & Training Support Grants
The Alameda Alliance for Health (Alliance) Provider Recruitment Initiative (PRI) is a grant program to support the Alameda County Safety Net and community-based organizations to hire and retain healthcare professionals who serve the Alameda County Medi-Cal population. PRI aims to grow the Alliance provider network and support our community partners’ ability to supply culturally and linguistically competent care to help improve member access to primary care providers (PCPs), specialists, and behavioral health providers. This includes grant funds to support focused network development projects and to improve member access to key provider types and/or services. Examples of this would include physician recruiting, Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), or if there is a need for more providers who perform Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations (CDEs) or for specific access to Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) providers after normal business hours. Under this initiative, funding could be provided to a group to develop their capacity to provide members with enhanced access. For eligible providers, funds may also be available to offset relocation expenses and to support focused network development projects that meet the goals of this initiative.
Grant funds are also available to support the following training and certifications:
- Community Health Workers (CHW).
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA) certification and retention.
